The west coast extends south-westerly to Le Morne Brabant. It is renowned for its varied landscapes, fascinating heritage and vibrant culture.
Beachside pampering
Starting from Flic en Flac beach which stretches over a few kilometres offering amazing snorkelling, jogging possibilities, you may also want to grab a boat there and swim with dolphins as a fun family activity or simply spend the afternoon on the sun-kissed beach to capture the fabulous sunset.
Wild Wild West
Year-round activities abound, featuring hiking, scuba diving, big game fishing… Crammed with natural wonders, the west coast boasts the Black River Gorges National Park where rare birds can be spotted amidst the lush flora and a hike in the mountain offers spectacular vistas of the ocean and Le Morne Brabant.
You will undoubtedly also enjoy the drive to Chamarel weaving inland through the forests and the waterfall to the seven-coloured earth, a geological phenomenon by volcanic activity, allowing you to capture the mood of the wild wild…west of Mauritius.
Embracing the waves
Further down in Le Morne, the beach is backed by Le Morne Brabant, a cultural heritage site on the Slave Route. State-of-art hotels offering five-star service fringe the coastline.
At the tip of the peninsular, kitesurf enthusiasts can enjoy the One Eye spot. Le Morne is popular for kitesurfing and hosts an annual festival sometime in September.
