Odysseo Mauritius Oceanarium
On September 6, 2021, Odysseo, the first and biggest oceanarium of the Mascarene Archipelago, was unveiled in Mauritius.
Odysseo is one of the biggest oceanarium in the Indian Ocean and is one of the first of its kind. We have put together this short article to share all about this unique oceanarium.
A fascinating new world with the ocean:
- 2,000,000 litres of water
- 45 aquariums
- 200 aquatic species
- 3500 specimens
- A unique marine voyage
This extraordinary journey starts at the Harbour Waterfront in Port Louis (the capital of Mauritius), where you will take a boat towards Odysseo.
This voyage will go through different phases:
- The lagoon
- Inland forests
- Coral reefs
- Open sea
- Sea laboratory
- The invertebrates
- Sub oceanic view
And the best part is the encounter with the sharks! You will be accompanied by a biologist, giving you the opportunity to ask any questions that you want. Feeding the stingrays is on the agenda, as is experiencing the marine world via augmented reality.
Odysseo Mauritius also talks about marine life and has a number of programmes to raise awareness, such as the fight against the use of plastic, the protection of endangered sea turtles, and the regrowth of coral.
Both locals and tourists will be able to learn more about marine life at this new attraction, which also serves as a learning hub.
